After dropping a 3-2 decision to Nanticoke July 12, the Cape Senior League All-Stars battled back out of the losers' bracket to defeat Nanticoke not once but twice to capture the District 3 championship.
The Cape squad downed Nanticoke 8-4 Friday, July 18 and repeated their victory with a romp with the district banner after a 6-3 win Saturday, July 19.
Friday found the bats coming alive as Noah Piper went 2-for-4, Rich Carey went 2-for-4 with a double and Noah Clifton went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Ben Lewis went 2-for-4 with a home run.
Kyle Lux made three incredible catches in the field, once robbing a Nanticoke batter of a home run over the fence.
Will Jarrell pitched six strong innings and had six Ks. Drew Mulcahy came in for the seventh inning and got the save.
In the final game, Drew Mulcahy delivered the first home run of his baseball career, driving in three runs in the first inning to post a 4-0 lead. That would be all they needed as the Nanticoke team could only muster three runs with a  homer in the top of the second.
Other hits in the final game were singles from Noah Piper and Richard Carey.
Pitchers Ben Lewis, Noah Clifton and Drew Mulcahy teamed for four strikeouts and the victory.
Nanticoke pitchers struck out nine Cape batters but walked nine in the contest.
Cape's team batting average was .270 in the tournament, going 31-115 from the plate.
"We really emphasize team effort," said manager Rich Carey. "Our defense was sound and we had good pitching. We were also disciplined at the plate. It was a great team win."
Cape starts its state championship run Thursday, July 24, as they play Naamans at Camden Wyoming.

Welcome to Cape Henlopen LL site!  Home of the 2010 and 2011 Division 3 Junior Baseball Champions, 2012 Senior Baseball D3 Champions and 2012 Jr. Baseball Pat Knight Finalist, 2013 Junior Baseball D3 Champions!

Welcome to the Cape Henlopen Little League Site

Welcome to the Cape League Baseball and Softball Website!
The league is comprised of 13-18 year old players from 3 area Little Leagues.  We draw players from Milton Little League, Lewes Little League and Rehoboth Little League who wish to continue playing organized recreational softball and baseball.  Players from each of these leagues boundry lines are eligable to play in Cape.
Cape participates in District All-Star's as well as Pat Knight tournament play.
Baseball utilizes the fields at both Milton LL and Rehoboth LL as our home fields (Lewes does not have a 90 ft base path field for baseball).
Softball utilizes Milton LL field as our home field with some games also at Rehoboth.
Softball and Senior Baseball are part of Interleague Play involving teams from all around Sussex County.  Junior Baseball is typically scheduled to play teams from Eastern Sussex County but sometimes includes teams from the entire County, as well as other Cape teams.

Season Information

The season will begin on or about May 19th and runs through the end of June.  There is approximately a 12 game schedule.  Games which are not made up by the end of June are generally not made up due to the Pat Knight and All Star tournments beginning the first/second week (respectively) of July.
Boys Seniors play Monday and Wednesday with a 6pm or 7pm start time depending on if the field we are playing on has lights.  Our home field is either Rehoboth or Milton as assigned per game.
Boys Juniors play Tuesday and Thursday with a 6pm or 7pm start time depending on if the field we are playing on has lights.  Our home field is either Rehoboth or Milton as assigned per game.
Girls schedules are Monday and Wednesday with typically an 8pm start as they must be scheduled around Little League games on the 60ft base path fields.  Our home field has traditionally been Milton, but some games have been assigned to Rehoboth due to field availability.  Please note District 3 (Sussex County) does NOT participate in Junior Softball during the regular season.  We may opt to field a Junior team for All Stars.  Otherwise, girls from 13-16 all play on the same team and play at the Senior level.

All Star Uniforms

Please note that All Star uniforms are NOT part of your registration fee.  If your child is selected for All Star's, you MAY be asked to pay for the uniform as an additional fee.  The league will cover the registration fee and insurance for this tournament.
